Assistant Manager - Financial Control

Mauritius

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Assistant Manager - Financial Control to join our team in Mauritius.

You'll be responsible for overseeing the Bookkeeping team, managing the day-to-day activities of the team, maintaining accurate financial records, performing day-to-day accounting activities for the Group and providing support to the Financial Control Manager.

Key responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage the Bookkeeping team, including assigning tasks, monitoring workloads, and providing guidance and support

  • Work with the Financial Controller to implement and improve processes and procedures

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations

  • Prepare and process invoices, receipts, payments, and other financial transactions

  • Manage and reconcile credit card and bank statements

  • Manage petty cash and reconcile petty cash accounts

  • Reconcile and report on inter-company accounts

  • Assist with budget preparation and monitoring

  • Work closely with the Financial Controller to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards and regulations

  • Support the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors

  • Handle any other accounting-related duties as required

Minimum experience / education required
  • A minimum of six years’ relevant experience

  • Educated to A ‘Levels standard, or equivalent

  • Attainment of a relevant professional qualification, e.g. ACCA, ICA or equivalent

Required skills
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Ability to build morale and team spirit and act as an ambassador of the Group’s values.
