New PraxisIFM Bursaries To Support Home-grown Talent In Guernsey
PRAXISIFM has launched its own bursary scheme aimed at developing future business leaders.
Two students will join the bursary scheme every year and will receive a 2500 annual bursary for the duration of their degree with up to six weeks of paid work guaranteed during the summer months. At the end of their degrees students could be offered a place on PraxisIFM's graduate training programme.
'Guernsey has some incredibly talented individuals and we wanted to do something to support the development of those people for the benefit of us as a group and the island as a whole' said PraxisIFM CEO Simon Thornton.
'Our ethos is very much to grow our own talent and some of our senior management team began their careers as PraxisIFM trainees. In fact I began my career here just over 25 years ago. We have an excellent track record of promoting within and are experienced in developing staff to the best of their ability.
'It only felt right to launch a bursary scheme to help develop Guernsey's home-grown talent by supporting the next generation of leaders with the cost of their studies and by providing valuable work experience. We'd be delighted if the PraxisIFM bursary students end up helping run the company in future or use their experience to benefit Guernsey.'
The scheme is only open to Guernsey residents undertaking three-year undergraduate degrees in any subject and will commence in September each year. However they must have excellent GCSE results and a prediction of a minimum of ABB at A Level or the equivalent in UCAS points and will need to complete an application form and submit a 750-word statement on why they want the bursary and should be selected. Shortlisted students will then have a face-to-face interview.
